Known Issues

  • The DataCore VSS provider may timeout if more than five virtual disks are executed simultaneously.
  • A Windows Host using DataCore MPIO may not always discover the 'preferred' DataCore Server's paths immediately after a restart. This is because Windows creates paths to the disk devices in the same order as it discovers them during its boot-up phase. This is not controlled by the SANsymphony 'preferred server' settings. However, once all the disk devices and their paths are discovered and accessible, any Host using the non-preferred server after restarting will fall back to the preferred server in a few minutes.
  • Windows Server 2022 and 2025 hosts could encounter a VSS service error when the VSS attempts to create a full snapshot with single virtual disks (vDisks). This happens when the snapshot state is migrating, and the destination disk is served at the same time. The VSS service in this case is unable to access the destination disk and add the snapshot to the shadow list. If the shadow list times out, the VSS service deletes all the information for the shadow list. The resolution for this issue will be provided in the future release.
  • Do not use the ‘No Access’ option when setting up the Active/Optimized path for a virtual disk in DataCore SANsymphony.
  • In the MPIO Console, host initiators may not appear until virtual disks have been served to them from DataCore SANsymphony.
  • Serving a single virtual disk to an MPIO host with the load balancing policy set to Failover Only over redundant Fibre Channel or iSCSI paths, and subsequently disabling or disconnecting the adapter, may cause the virtual disk to lose access to the DataCore Server. Instead, configure the load balancing policy to ‘Round Robin’.
  • When a host is experiencing heavy I/O load, the DataCoreMPIO Console may take several minutes to load.
  • The Create Shadow Copy operation is not supported for dual virtual disks.
  • To avoid an issue when using the "All" setting for a preferred server in DataCore SANsymphony, install the following update:
    • Windows Server 2016: KB4022723 (June 27, 2017)
  • To avoid an issue when split and unserving virtual disks in DataCore SANsymphony, install the following update:
    • Windows Server 2016: KB4074590 (February 13, 2018)
